Time

I recently discussed with friends how the year has flown by. We joked about how the years seem to get shorter as we get older.

We talked about how we never seem to find the time to do the things we want to do or visit the places we want to visit. A sorry excuse at best.

Our chat reminded me of the song Time by Pink Floyd (the lyrics credited to Roger Waters). The song is from the 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon - a masterpiece in it's entirety. But I digress.

The song is about how time can slip by, without people noticing it until it is too late. A strong reminder to make the most of the time we have.

Let me get out of the way. Here's part of the lyrics:

…You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines…

Enough said.
