Take one for the team

I like being part of a team.

I'm a team player.  I'm a member of several teams and so are you.

Sometimes we get to pick our team but often we are assigned to a team.

Teamwork is the co-operation of a group working on a task.

Teams function effectively when the team members are reliable and committed, communicates openly and constructively, listens effectively, and pitches in to get the task done.

Great teams understand that diverse opinions are good for the team.  They know to resolve conflict constructively and not shy away from it.

Successful teams know how to use the strengths of the individual members.  Successful team members know their own weaknesses and don't try to hide them.

Teams function best when they have fun while working.  And there is always opportunity to have fun, no matter how tough the task.

Effective teamwork require clear goals and a common purpose.  Team members have a responsibility to make sure they understand the goals and interrogate the team leaders until they do.

Teamwork is not limited to the workplace.  Families are teams and friends are teams.  Societies are teams and nations are teams.

It's true that teamwork divides the task and multiplies the success.

Whatever team you find yourself playing in today, take one for the team.
