Be Inspired

New Year’s resolutions are a foolish way to try and achieve something – anything.  The notion that we have to wait for a new year to take action is irrational and ineffective.  I’m sure we can all relate to the enormously high failure rate of New Year’s resolutions.

Every day is an opportunity to make a change.  It is our privilege and our duty to make the most of every day.  Read this as a reminder.

Let’s not expect the calendar to change us, or wait for next month or next Monday to start (or stop) something. With a little inspiration, we can take action now.

But where does one find inspiration?  The answer is simple: Everywhere!

Inspiration is all around us.

We don’t have to look for it, be open to it and inspiration will find you.

Expect to be inspired, don’t hope to be inspired.  When we have a mindset that expects inspiration, we’ll be inspired in many ways.

Inspiration is in listening to a virtuoso perform and it's in listening to a colleague describe an ‘Aha!’ moment that got a project back on track.

It’s in hearing the cleaning lady sing in the most beautiful voice while doing the most menial of tasks and in hearing the excited chatter of the birds on a summer morning.

Inspiration is in watching a family make a house a home and it’s in watching a craftsman apply his skill to make something beautiful.

It’s also in sitting on a beach relaxing with a loved one and inspiration is in sharing stories with friends.

Inspiration is in tasting a dish in an acclaimed restaurant where the chef never had any formal training and it’s in the sweet taste of success after achieving something.

Inspiration is in the touch of a loved one and it’s in touching someone’s life in a way they never expected.

Allow yourself to be inspired.

Dare to inspire others.
