I don’t think I say Thank
You enough. Sure, I try to live up to social standards of politeness,
but do I really give thanks enough? I think I can do better and commit
to do so!
Let me start by saying: Thank
You! I appreciate you taking the time to read my meandering
thoughts every week.
Saying thank you, in
whichever form, is expressing your gratitude, thankfulness or appreciation for
something, or towards somebody. It is not some form of indebtedness or
obligation, it is just truthful thanks for whatever. What can I be
thankful for? Turns out there are plenty of things to be grateful for.
Here’s the list I jotted down in my journal this morning:
Medical Science & competent surgeons
Coffee
Peaceful early mornings
My health, my mental abilities
My job
Exercise
Family, friends and colleagues
Opportunities
Great restaurants & Good food
Beer :)
Challenges
I find the habit of listing
things to be grateful for very useful. Doing it every morning gives me
perspective and certainly contributes to me having a more positive attitude
throughout the day. The positive attitude turns into a more productive
day, which fuels a positive attitude. Try
it, you’ll see the benefits.
Giving heartfelt
thanks is extremely satisfying. So in a way, it’s
better for me to thank you, than it is for you to be thanked by
me? Thank You, from the bottom of my heart, for
making me feel great when I thank you.
I want to challenge
you to find more reasons to thank somebody (anybody!) and recognise the
multitude of things you have to be grateful for every day. And expect me
to thank you, sincerely and more often.
Thank you, Ngiyabonga, Ke a leboha, Ndiyabulela, Siyabonga kakulu, Ndi a livhuwa, Ndzi khense ngopfu, Dankie!
